I’m no good at public speaking either, Tamra, but they say that’s one of the commonest fears. So go ahead and enter the RITA! We’ll all be cheering for you.

  2. Tamra, I’m usually comfortable with public speaking if I’m familiar with the topic or the group I’m speaking with/to. I can tell I get nervous, but I think being in choir and community theatre with my kids has helped me learn to channel that nervous energy into something positive– usually anyway.

I say, enter that Rita contest, we’ll definitely be cheering for you!

  3. Carol Post says:

You’re in good company, Tamra–they say public speaking is the most common fear, although I think spiders have to run a close second!

I’ve never been afraid of public speaking and actually find it exhilarating, so I’m not sure I have any advice. I might be slightly nervous beforehand, but as soon as I get up there, I love it. I think the biggest thing is being prepared.

  4. I replied to your comment on my site, but I’m re-posting the important part here… I wouldn’t have known you were frightened of public speaking! You are lovely and poised and you did great in your GH speech and ALSO during the Golden Network’s AGM last year!

    Congrats on your release!
